FADE AGE SPOTS with an orange-slice scrub

-

Years of sun exposure cause skin to overproduce melanin (skin’s pigment), which can lead to random dark spots on the face and neck. While harsh exfoliation and skin bleaches can erase the discoloration, they can also be super irritating. Dr. Shamban’s surprising to-do for a spot-free complexion: Massage skin with an orange slice. “The tangy fruit is a major source of vitamin C, which promotes skin-cell turnover. And using the rind and flesh topically delivers a more potent dose to the skin.” Plus, the fruit’s citric acid acts like a mild bleaching agent to lighten dark spots. Bonus? Gently rubbing an orange slice on the face increases blood circulation for an instantly healthy glow.

To do: Slice an orange, then rub the slice all over your face (avoiding eyes) for 1 minute. Repeat twice a week for bright, even skin in four weeks. Tip: Since citric acid can make skin more sensitive to sunlight, Dr. Shamban advises applying an SPF right after.
