Amazing makeovers: One will make you look younger!

“I want Emma Stone’s

auburn sweep!”

HOW IT FLATTERS: “The contrast of deep auburn hair against fair skin creates a radiant, lit-from-within effect,” says Clairol color director James Corbett, who transformed our readers’ tresses. Plus, the rich color’s dimension paired with the bounce of a layered bob imparts mega-movement to finer strands.

GET THE CUT: Ask your stylist for a “lob” (a long bob) with angled ends and light, face-framing layers. GET THE COLOR AT HOME: When going darker, opt for a demi-permanent dye (like AGEbeautiful Demi Permanent Liqui-Crème Hair Color in #5R-Medium Red, $7, SallyBeauty.com), which fades gradually over time to prevent a harsh demarcation of regrowth. Apply from roots to ends and brush through with a wide-tooth comb for even distribution; rinse after 20 minutes.

“I want Emma Thompson’s

champagne chop!”

HOW IT FLATTERS: A platinum hue casts a light on the face to offset any dark under-eye bags or sallow tinge in skin for an instantly younger appearance overall, says Corbett. And a stacked-layer pixie creates volume at the crown that pulls the eye up for a subtle face-lift effect.

GET THE CUT: Ask your stylist for a pixie that’s tapered in back with sideswept stacked bangs in front.

GET THE COLOR AT HOME: Brush a lightener

(like Clairol Nice ’n Easy Born Blonde Maxi, $10, Target.com) onto 1" sections of hair from 2 inches away from the scalp down to ends. “This creates a ‘shadow root’ that softly blends in as hair grows,” says Corbett.

Let sit 1 hour; rinse. Next, apply an ash-blond dye (like

Wella Color Charm Light Ash Blonde Demi-Permanent Haircolor, $7, Amazon.com) over bleached sections to neutralize any yellow. Let sit 30 minutes; rinse.
