Good pos­ture can ward off fa­tigue, say sci­en­tists in the Jour­nal of Be­hav­ior Ther­apy and

Ex­per­i­men­tal Psy­chi­a­try. In their study of 61 adults with de­pres­sion, those who were asked to sit up straight, then com­plete a count­ing task re­ported 122 per­cent lower scores of fa­tigue after 5 min­utes than those who sat how­ever they wanted. Ac­cord­ing to the study au­thors, up­right pos­ture in­creases the pro­duc­tion of thy­roid-stim­u­lat­ing hor­mones that raise en­ergy lev­els and pre­vent the neg­a­tive thoughts that can lead to de­pres­sion.
