Probiotics fight fall allergies

First For Women - - Health -

So say scientists at the University of Florida. In a study of 173 allergy sufferers, those who took a probiotic containing Lactobacillus gasseri, Bifidobacterium bifidum and Bifidobacterium longum for 8 weeks had a 357 percent greater reduction in symptoms than those who got a placebo. The reason? Probiotics fortify immune cells that regulate the body’s tolerance to allergens. A brand that contains the study-tested formulation: Kyolic Kyo-Dophilus Digestion & Immune Health, $19 for 180 capsules, Vitacost.com.
