Va­lerie Bertinelli shares her tips to stay­ing jazzed

Busy ac­tress, Food Net­work star and cook­book au­thor Va­lerie Bertinelli, 57, shares the strate­gies that keep her calm, con­fi­dent and ra­di­ant as she go-go-goes

These days, Va­lerie Bertinelli is spend­ing a lot of time in the kitchen, and the for­mer Hot in Cleve­land star couldn’t be hap­pier about it. But cook­ing (and tast­ing!) recipes day af­ter day for her hit Food Net­work show and new cook­book Va­lerie’s Home Cook­ing (Ox­moor House, 2017; Hard­cover $30, Kin­dle $17, Nook $13) has come with chal­lenges. “I’m try­ing to ad­just to this life and how tempt­ing ev­ery­thing is,” Va­lerie ad­mits. “It’s a strug­gle to try to take the weight off at my age, so I’m reeval­u­at­ing what I’m putting in my body with­out cut­ting any­thing out or feel­ing guilty when I do in­dulge.”

Va­lerie cred­its tak­ing a more re­laxed ap­proached to di­et­ing with help­ing her feel good in her skin even if her weight fluc­tu­ates. “We have to be kin­der to our­selves,” she says. “It might be a life­long jour­ney, but I’m hop­ing I’ll get to that point where no mat­ter what the scale tells me, I feel love for this body that’s been so good for me for 57 years.” And to keep up that healthy per­spec­tive, Va­lerie re­lies on a few savvy strate­gies that help her look and feel her best.
