Valerie Bertinelli shares her tips to staying jazzed
Busy actress, Food Network star and cookbook author Valerie Bertinelli, 57, shares the strategies that keep her calm, confident and radiant as she go-go-goes
These days, Valerie Bertinelli is spending a lot of time in the kitchen, and the former Hot in Cleveland star couldn’t be happier about it. But cooking (and tasting!) recipes day after day for her hit Food Network show and new cookbook Valerie’s Home Cooking (Oxmoor House, 2017; Hardcover $30, Kindle $17, Nook $13) has come with challenges. “I’m trying to adjust to this life and how tempting everything is,” Valerie admits. “It’s a struggle to try to take the weight off at my age, so I’m reevaluating what I’m putting in my body without cutting anything out or feeling guilty when I do indulge.”
Valerie credits taking a more relaxed approached to dieting with helping her feel good in her skin even if her weight fluctuates. “We have to be kinder to ourselves,” she says. “It might be a lifelong journey, but I’m hoping I’ll get to that point where no matter what the scale tells me, I feel love for this body that’s been so good for me for 57 years.” And to keep up that healthy perspective, Valerie relies on a few savvy strategies that help her look and feel her best.
