A steam session

First For Women - - Love -

“Someone always gets sick on winter break,” says Jen Trachtenberg, M.D., a mother of three and an assistant clinical professor of pediatrics at the Icahn School Of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. “One holiday trip, we stayed in a hotel and my daughter caught a cold.” The dry, stuffy hotel heat didn’t help matters. “It aggravated her nose and throat,” says Dr. Trachtenberg. So she had her daughter drink plenty of water and spend 5 minutes in the steamed-up bathroom. “The water kept her hydrated and thinned the secretions, and the steam opened up the nasal passages. By morning, she was ready to have fun on our trip.”
