Boosts calorie burn by 10%
Slipping on sneakers and your favorite jeans to run errands is a great way to slim on the go. Researchers at the University of Wisconsin found that wearing casual clothes subconsciously motivated subjects to walk further and put in more physical effort to complete tasks. All told, this effect helped study participants log an average of 491 more steps on days they dressed for comfort—an effect that increased their calorie-burning activity by nearly 10 percent.
