Path to Well­ness 5K Run/Walk

Reg­is­tra­tion is now open for walk­ers and run­ners to par­tic­i­pate in the Third An­nual Path to Well­ness 5K Run/Walk planned for Satur­day, Oct. 5 at Lakes Park in Fort My­ers. The event will ben­e­fit the Lee County Chap­ter of NAMI (Na­tional Al­liance on Men­tal Ill­ness) and Salus­Care, the new not-for-profit formed by the merger of Lee Men­tal Health and South­west Florida Ad­dic­tion Ser­vices (SWFAS). More than 300 peo­ple are ex­pected to turn out for the race, which be­gins at 8:30 a.m., rain or shine. Race re­sults and tim­ing pro­vided by 3D Rac­ing, Inc., of Cape Co­ral. Reg­is­tra­tion is $20 for walk­ers and $25 for run­ners and may be made on­line at www. ac­ through Oc­to­ber 4. Same day reg­is­tra­tion is avail­able at Lakes Park for an ad­di­tional $5. T-shirts are guar­an­teed to the first 200 reg­is­trants. Awards will be given to the top three fin­ish­ers in each age divi­sion for both males and fe­males. NAMI is the na­tion’s largest grass­roots men­tal health or­ga­ni­za­tion ded­i­cated to im­prov­ing the lives of per­sons liv­ing with se­ri­ous men­tal ill­ness and their fam­i­lies. Founded in 1979, NAMI has be­come the na­tion’s voice on men­tal ill­ness, a na­tional or­ga­ni­za­tion in­clud­ing NAMI or­ga­ni­za­tions in ev­ery state and in over 1100 lo­cal com­mu­ni­ties across the coun­try who join to­gether to meet the NAMI mis­sion through ad­vo­cacy, re­search, sup­port, and ed­u­ca­tion. Salus­Care of­fers out­pa­tient and res­i­den­tial treat­ment for in­di­vid­u­als with men­tal ill­ness and sub­stance use dis­or­ders from seven lo­ca­tions in Lee County and one in Hendry County. The multi-faceted agency also of­fers detox­i­fi­ca­tion ser­vices for adults, preven­tion pro­gram­ming and an Em­ployee As­sis­tance Pro­gram for about 60 area com­pa­nies.
