Footwear News - - THE LIST -

Before building his new flagship in Alexandria, Va., Comfort One Shoes founder Maurice Breton revisited his original shop across the street, at 201 King St., to initiate a major renovation. The 3,000-square-foot location has been reimagined as a chic shoe salon, complete with crystal chandeliers juxtaposed against a backdrop of exposed brick walls. And it now stocks higher-end lines such as Thierry Rabotin and BeautiFeel. Breton noted that the smaller shop was overstocked, which limited his merchandising options. “It was bursting at the seams,” he said. “I could only put in four to five SKUs of a hot brand. [Now] we can have big spreads of those lines.”
