nat Turner has a new weapon against can­cer: bet­ter soft­ware for doc­tors.

His flatiron Health, based in new York City, sells soft­ware made specif­i­cally for on­col­o­gists and de­signed af­ter years of an­a­lyz­ing the type of data that doc­tors use. it will track costs, record med­i­cal in­for­ma­tion and pro­vide a data­base for physi­cians to find pos­si­ble can­di­dates for new tri­als.

over 2,500 clin­i­cians use flatiron to­day, and the startup has raised over $300 mil­lion from in­vestors, in­clud­ing GV (for­merly known as Google Ven­tures) and phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal gi­ant roche, which also agreed to use flatiron soft­ware in clin­i­cal tri­als.
