John­son took full com­mand of her fam­ily’s mu­tual fund gi­ant Fidelity In­vest­ments in De­cem­ber 2016 when she was named chair­man, a job pre­vi­ously held by her fa­ther, Ned John­son (No. 62), for nearly 4 decades. John­son, who owns ap­prox­i­mately one fourth of the com­pany, has been CEO since 2014. Fidelity, which was founded by her grand­fa­ther in 1946, is the na­tion’s sec­ond-largest mu­tual fund gi­ant (be­hind Van­guard), with nearly $2.3 tril­lion in man­aged as­sets. John­son re­port­edly worked sum­mers at Fidelity through­out col­lege and joined full time in 1988 af­ter re­ceiv­ing an M.B.A. from Har­vard.
