The Ok­la­homa ty­coon, who backed Obama and Clin­ton, trav­eled to Ice­land and Green­land this sum­mer to see po­lar bears be­fore their icy habi­tat is melted away by global warm­ing. In 2016, his Ge­orge Kaiser Fam­ily Foun­da­tion ac­quired Bob Dy­lan’s ar­chives. The foun­da­tion has do­nated more than $4 billion to char­i­ta­ble causes, mostly ones fo­cused on early-child­hood ed­u­ca­tion. Kaiser, whose par­ents fled Nazi Ger­many and set­tled in Tulsa, took over the fam­ily oil busi­ness in the 1960s. He bought Bank of Ok­la­homa out of re­ceiver­ship in 1991 for $60 mil­lion; his stake is now worth $3 billion.
