Doerr hasn’t given up on clean tech just yet. In December 2016, Doerr, who earlier stepped back into the chairman’s role at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Beyers, announced he was participating in a $1 billion fund led by Bill Gates to back more clean energy ventures. A book by Doerr and former CEO of Betterworks Kris Duggan on performance practices was due out in September, but publication has been postponed indefinitely after Duggan and his company Betterworks were sued by a former employee for sexual harassment and assault. Duggan has said he “strongly disputes” the allegations.
