The co­founders of Two Sigma In­vest­ments, a data-driven hedge fund that man­ages $45 billion of as­sets, Overdeck and Siegel worked to­gether at hedge fund D.E. Shaw be­fore start­ing the quan­ti­ta­tive trad­ing pow­er­house in 2001. At age 16, Overdeck won a sil­ver medal at the In­ter­na­tional Math­e­mat­i­cal Olympiad in Poland and en­rolled at Stan­ford. He earned a de­gree in math and was on his way to get­ting a mas­ter’s in sta­tis­tics. But in 1992, Overdeck left academia af­ter be­ing re­cruited by D.E. Shaw. He later joined one of its alums, Jeff Be­zos, at Ama­zon for 2 years and fin­ished his mas­ter’s in 2014. Co­founder Siegel got his PH.D. in com­puter science and once started a per­sonal fi­nan­cial ser­vices web­site.
