Fisher, who wrote the long­est con­tin­u­ous­run­ning col­umn in Forbes’ his­tory, penned his last in late 2016 af­ter more than 32 years. He re­mains ex­ec­u­tive chair­man and co­chief in­vest­ment of­fi­cer of Fisher In­vest­ments, which he founded in 1979 with $250. Its as­sets un­der man­age­ment are now nearly $72 billion. Fisher dropped out of high school “be­cause it was a waste of time” and headed to com­mu­nity col­lege where he could “take bet­ter classes.” Hum­boldt State, from which he grad­u­ated with a de­gree in eco­nom­ics, ap­par­ently be­came a univer­sity the day be­fore he grad­u­ated.
