$3.2 billion  ( self-made score: source: tv net­work, in­vest­ments age: 73 res­i­dence: bev­erly Hills, calif. high school di­ploma More than 2 years have passed since span­ish-lan­guage tv net­work uni­vi­sion, which sa­ban chairs, filed to go pub­lic, but the ipo still hasn’t hap­pened. it’s a tough sell: uni­vi­sion lost half its prime-time au­di­ence be­tween 2013 and 2017, and the com­pany is bur­dened with $10.2 billion in debt. sa­ban and a group of pri­vate eq­uity firms pur­chased uni­vi­sion for $13.7 billion (us­ing some $10 billion in debt) in 2007. sa­ban built a for­tune in the 1990s beginning with the Mighty Mor­phin’ Power Rangers tv show he cre­ated. as a kid in is­rael, sa­ban was kicked out of agri­cul­tural board­ing school for lead­ing one too many protests. While serv­ing in the is­raeli army, he landed a book­ing for his band, but he didn’t have a band or know how to play an in­stru­ment. so he founded a band and faked it.
