B.s., north­ern michi­gan u. ’75 schultz stepped down as star­bucks ceo, for the sec­ond time, in april. He re­mains ex­ec­u­tive chair­man. af­ter grow­ing up in a brook­lyn hous­ing project and at­tend­ing ca­nar­sie High school, he landed at north­ern Michi­gan on a foot­ball schol­ar­ship. He was the first per­son in his fam­ily to grad­u­ate from col­lege. at star­bucks, he es­tab­lished the star­bucks col­lege achieve­ment plan, which pro­vides em­ploy­ees who work at least 20 hours a week with free tu­ition for on­line classes at ari­zona state; since it started in 2014, 6,000 work­ers have par­tic­i­pated. from real es­tate, but De­bar­tolo is best known as the owner of the San Fran­cisco 49ers dur­ing the team’s run of 5 Su­per Bowl wins in the ’80s and ’90s. (His sis­ter Denise York, No. 324, now owns the team.) His foot­ball bona fides earned him an in­duc­tion into the Pro Foot­ball Hall of Fame in 2016. De­bar­tolo has given more than $100 mil­lion to his alma mater Notre Dame and other ed­u­ca­tional in­sti­tu­tions; in 2005, he teamed up with pro foot­ball player Der­rick Brooks to cre­ate the Brooks De­bar­tolo Col­le­giate High School, a char­ter school in Tampa, Florida.
