Af­ter sell­ing his hedge fund GLG Part­ners for $1.6 billion in 2010, Gottes­man, who lives in a con­verted ice fac­tory in lower Man­hat­tan, took the pro­ceeds and invested in food. First, Burger King: He now owns about 250 fran­chises. Then New York’s Eleven Madi­son Park (named the world’s best restau­rant ear­lier this year). One of his other New York restau­rants, No­mad, is open­ing a lo­ca­tion in Los An­ge­les this fall.
