Turner never graduated from Brown—his father refused to pay his tuition when he decided to pursue a liberal arts degree. No matter. In 1980 Turner launched CNN, the first 24-hour news station, which forever changed the world of journalism and broadcasting. Today the media mogul turned land baron owns 16 ranches in the U.S. and 3 in Argentina, as well as the world’s largest private bison herd. The college dropout does have 48 honorary degrees.
