His Point72 As­set Man­age­ment started man­ag­ing out­side cap­i­tal in early 2018 and now over­sees $13 bil­lion. For years, Co­hen ran SAC Cap­i­tal, one of the most suc­cess­ful hedge funds ever, but he was forced to shut it down af­ter the firm pleaded guilty in 2013 to in­sider trad­ing charges that cost Co­hen $1.8 bil­lion in penal­ties. He was never crim­i­nally charged but agreed to a 2-year reg­u­la­tory ban pre­vent­ing him from man­ag­ing client cap­i­tal. He has do­nated $630 mil­lion over his life­time, in­clud­ing $36 mil­lion to Co­hen’s Vet­eran Net­work, which pro­vides men­tal health care to veter­ans.
