For years, Cohen ran SAC Capital, one of the most successful hedge funds ever, but he was forced to shut it down after the firm pleaded guilty in 2013 to insider trading charges that cost Cohen $1.8 billion in penalties. He was never criminally charged but agreed to a 2-year regulatory ban preventing him from managing client capital.
