Check out the hip knitwear from Un­made (un­made.com), a Bri­tish la­bel that lets you al­ter ex­ist­ing pat­terns in fab­rics in­clud­ing merino wool and cash­mere. In essence, Un­made has retro­fit­ted tra­di­tional in­dus­trial knit­ting ma­chines to en­able them to “3-D print” one-of cloth­ing coste­fec­tively. It’s not wear­able tech, ex­actly, but it does bring a dis­tinc­tive con­sumer­first dig­i­tal touch to a hide­bound busi­ness model. Un­made has part­nered with a num­ber of de­sign­ers for its sweaters and scarves, which range from $90 to $300— leav­ing you free to use that hideous ofce gift to check your oil.
