Sept. 2 and Dec. 2. A child must turn five by Sept. 1 to be el­i­gi­ble for kinder­garten. Please come by the Men­do­cino K8 School of­fice (Mon­day through Thurs­day, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) or call 707-937- 0515 to be­gin the reg­is­tra­tion process.

Sum­mer Kids Bag Pro­gram

The Fort Bragg Food Bank’s sum­mer kids bag pro­gram runs through the sum­mer on Tues­days from noon to 3 p.m. The Food Bank will give fam­i­lies with chil­dren an ex­tra bag of food ev­ery week. Pull up to the curb­side. Put on your mask and open your trunk. Wait for their vol­un­teers to load your food. And drive away with ex­tra food. Part­ners in this pro­gram are the Men­do­cino Coast Chil­dren’s Fund, James G. Cum­mings Foun­da­tion and the Fort Bragg Uni­fied School District.

2020 Cen­sus Re­sponse dead­line ex­tended

The 2020 Cen­sus Re­sponse dead­line has been ex­tended to Oct. 31, 2020.

There are 3 ways to re­spond:

1. Com­puter: my2020­cen­sus.gov. You can re­spond with or with­out an in­vi­ta­tion num­ber.

2. Tele­phone: English 1-844-330-2020 Span­ish 1-844- 468-2020. 4 am — 11pm PST

3. Pa­per forms mailed late April.

COVID-19 Re­lief Fund

If you or some­one you know needs food or ba­sic sup­plies, local or­ga­ni­za­tions are poised to help, thanks to The Com­mu­nity Foun­da­tion of Men­do­cino County’s new COVID-19 Re­lief Fund. They have al­ready raised close to $300,000 to pro­vide im­me­di­ate food re­lief through­out our county and have awarded grants to 18 non-profit groups.
