U.S. SBA to hold small busi­ness event in At­lanta

Long­time As­so­ci­ated Press jour­nal­ist Lisa Pane has been pro­moted to a new “cross-for­mat” role with the As­so­ci­ated Press. Payne’s new role will re­quire her to cover crime and law en­force­ment from a na­tional per­spec­tive, fill­ing in key cov­er­age on ma­jor break­ing crime sto­ries.

“In this role, Lisa will de­velop strong short­and longer-term en­ter­prise on sto­ries about crime and law en­force­ment aimed at na­tional and global au­di­ences, and will dig in on some of the key is­sues that oc­cupy Amer­i­cans’ thoughts — guns and the Se­cond Amend­ment, safety and se­cu­rity and the threat of ter­ror­ism in all its forms. She will do that us­ing the strength of AP sto­ry­telling in all for­mats,” said Brian Carovil­lano, Vice Pres­i­dent and man­ag­ing editor of US News in a state­ment.

City Win­ery At­lanta to host star-stud­ded artist line-up

City Win­ery, the pop­u­lar live-mu­sic venue and restau­rant with lo­ca­tions in New York City, Chicago, Nashville and now At­lanta is gear­ing up for a se­ries of con­certs in its in­ti­mate 300-seat Mid­town venue.

Lo­cated at Ponce City Mar­ket, the in­ti­mate venue will be home to over two-dozen renowned acts such as Mavis Sta­ples, Amel Lar­rieux and 10,000 Ma­ni­acs to name a few be­gin­ning on May 7 and run­ning un­til July 14.

“We are at­tempt­ing to cre­ate the per­fect set­ting to share with friends your pas­sion for wine, mu­sic and great food. We be­lieve strongly that the de­sign and set-up of the phys­i­cal space which com­bines the wine coun­try vibe in an ur­ban set­ting sets the stage for our unique cus­tomer ex­pe­ri­ence,” says Michael Dorf, City Win­ery founder and chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer.

The United States Small Busi­ness Ad­min­is­tra­tion (SBA) will rec­og­nize and award out­stand­ing small busi­ness own­ers in sev­eral cities around the coun­try, in­clud­ing At­lanta on May 3.

SBA ad­min­is­tra­tor Maria Con­tr­eras-Sweet re­cently an­nounced the dates for this year’s Na­tional Small Busi­ness Week to be held from May 1-7. This year’s theme will be “Dream Big, Start Small.”

Na­tional Small Busi­ness week will kick­off in Wash­ing­ton D.C. be­fore head­ing to At­lanta, Den­ver and Phoenix. The week will wrap-up with vis­its to Oak­land and San Jose, Cal­i­for­nia. Ad­di­tion­ally, recog­ni­tion and ed­u­ca­tional events through­out SBA’s 10 Re­gions and 68 Dis­tricts will be held through­out the week.
