Pamela Ste­wart of At­lanta gay cham­ber named GLAAD co-chair

GLAAD, the world’s LGBT me­dia ad­vo­cacy or­ga­ni­za­tion, an­nounced Oct. 24 that The Coca-Cola Com­pany ex­ec­u­tive Pamela Ste­wart has been ap­pointed to co-chair of GLAAD’s Na­tional Board of Di­rec­tors, serv­ing along­side au­thor and ad­vo­cate Jen­nifer Fin­ney Boy­lan.

Ste­wart, the vice pres­i­dent of na­tional re­tail sales at Coca-Cola, was named the At­lanta Gay & Les­bian Cham­ber of Com­merce’s Busi­ness Woman of the Year at the group’s an­nual Com­mu­nity Awards Din­ner last month.

Ad­di­tion­ally, Pres­i­dent and Ex­ec­u­tive Di­rec­tor of the Ari­adne Getty Foun­da­tion, Ari­adne Getty and phi­lan­thropist Nicole Eisen­berg will join GLAAD’s Na­tional Board of Di­rec­tors. GLAAD also an­nounced a $1 mil­lion gift from the Ari­adne Getty Foun­da­tion to sup­port the or­ga­ni­za­tion’s Trans­gen­der Me­dia Pro­gram, which works to in­crease the quan­tity and qual­ity of trans­gen­der rep­re­sen­ta­tion in news, en­ter­tain­ment, and dig­i­tal me­dia.

“GLAAD’s Na­tional Board of Di­rec­tors bring vi­sion and un­ri­valed ex­per­tise to our work of ac­cel­er­at­ing ac­cep­tance for the LGBTQ com­mu­nity,” said Sarah Kate El­lis, GLAAD pres­i­dent & CEO in a state­ment. “We are honored to wel­come th­ese es­teemed new mem­bers to GLAAD’s Na­tional Board of Di­rec­tors and cel­e­brate Pamela Ste­wart’s ap­point­ment as co-chair.”
