Kinniry, Drakes run over George School
“In the first half I just needed to calm down,” Kinniry said. “I need to see the field, read the defense and step into the pocket and make a good throw. I have the arm strength. I just need to set my feet.”
Kinniry has only been practicing at quarterback for a few months and thanks to the help from offensive coordinator Tony Owens, Gormley is amazed with the progress Kinniry has made. In fact, the entire team continues to amaze the second year coach. Just in one week the Drakes’ defense made a complete turnaround and limited the Cougars to 131 total yards of offense.
“Last week was some of the worst tackling I have ever seen,” Gormley said. “We still had some grabbing and not enough wrapping up, but it was better than it was the week before and that is the goal. We keep getting better.”
