Chel­tenham an­nounces in­terim prin­ci­pal for My­ers El­e­men­tary

Chel­tenham School Dis­trict for­mally an­nounced Aug. 27 that Wil­liam Kiefer, for­mer Chel­tenham Town­ship su­per­in­ten­dent, will be in­terim prin­ci­pal of My­ers El­e­men­tary School. For­mer My­ers Prin­ci­pal An­drew Kuhn is now the prin­ci­pal at Chel­tenham High School.

Kiefer was the su­per­in­ten­dent of Chel­tenham School Dis­trict from 2006 to 2010. He has more than 30 years of ex­pe­ri­ence in ed­u­ca­tion, in­clud­ing as a teacher, psy­chol­o­gist, early child­hood co­or­di­na­tor, el­e­men­tary and sec­ondary school prin­ci­pal and su­per­in­ten­dent of the Ham­burg Area School Dis­trict.

He holds Bach­e­lor of Arts and Mas­ter of Sci­ence de­grees from Millersville Univer­sity and a doc­tor­ate in ed­u­ca­tion from Walden Univer­sity.

He will re­main the in­terim prin­ci­pal at My­ers un­til an of­fi­cial ap­point­ment is made for the po­si­tion.

“I am de­lighted to serve as the in­terim prin­ci­pal of My­ers El­e­men­tary School,” he said in a re­cent let­ter to par­ents. “It is an honor to have the op­por­tu­nity to work with this ex­tra­or­di­nary fac­ulty and staff and the My­ers community. Al­though my time at My­ers will be tem­po­rary, I in­tend to make this time a seam­less tran­si­tion of school lead­er­ship. You can de­pend on My­ers to continue pro­vid­ing learn­ing ex­cel­lence in a safe and car­ing en­vi­ron­ment.”
