Abington jumped out to a 21-6 lead before the end of the first half and cruised to a 40-12 win over Harry S Truman in a Suburban One kational Conference meeting at Truman last Friday.

The dhosts scored one touchdown in the first quarter, two more in each the second and third quarters and one more in the fourth while rolling to the easy victory.

“f thought our defense did a nice job containing a very athletic and difficult option offense that Truman runs,” Abington coach Tim Sorber said. “f thought our offense showed the ability to control the ball in the run game and hendall Stewart made some very clutch catches and big plays in the pass game.”

Stewart caught two touchdown passes – one for 26 yards and one for 27 – in the second quarter while helping the dhosts E5-2, 3-1F to the win.

Abington got the scoring started in the first quarter when Tyler Schreiner broke off a 50-yard touchdown run to put the dhosts up 7-0. After Truman got one score back and failed on the extra point, Stewart caught his two touchdown passes from quarterback Dylan Collins, putting Abington up 21-6 at the half.

fn the third quarter, Trey duaglionona caught a nine-yard pass from Collins to increase Abington’s lead, which was followed later in the period with a one-yard touchdown run by Collins. Anthony Culbreath scored from four yards out on a run late in the game to cap the scoring for Abington.

“Our offense had way too many mental mistakes that led to a ridiculous amount of penalties,” Sorber said. “te will need to clean this up the rest of the way if we are going to be successful the rest of the year.”

Abington’s first test in cutting down the penalties will come this Friday when it hosts Council oock South in another SOi kational Conference meeting.
