KATE & MEGHAN’S $10M SHOWDOWN
model Rose Hanbury exploded last year when Kate suddenly ended her friendship with the beauty, who is married to the Marquess of Cholmondeley, David Rocksavage.
While palace chatter about a fling was never substantiated, it remains a sore point with Kate — and Meghan knows it, the courtier says.
Money’s an object
“She knew exactly how to get under Kate’s skin,” the courtier says. “But behind her sweet smile, Kate’s no pushover, either. She hit Meghan where it hurts — in the wallet!”
Since leaving the royal family earlier this year, Harry and his wife have been hit with mounting expenses. They’ve been forced to repay the British treasury $3 million for renovations on their former British estate, Frogmore Cottage, and underwrite their own $12 million security costs. But money hasn’t been rolling in since moving to America, insiders say.
Actress Meghan apparently hasn’t inked any movie or TV deals. She and her hubby just hired a company, the Harry Walker Agency, that arranges speaking engagements at $400,000 a pop. But sources insist there are no takers yet.
“So Kate’s threat really rocked Meghan,” the courtier says. “Meghan was in tears.”
Bad blood between the women goes back to before the American beauty married the royal redhead in 2018, say insiders, who claim Harry’s dad, Prince Charles, thought Meghan was a bad match from the get-go.
At a garden party last November, Charles pulled Harry aside and told him to take Meghan and leave after she was heard rudely complaining about being “bored,” sources say. Since then, things have only gotten worse.
“Meghan and Harry’s highhanded ways have dug them into a hole,” says the courtier. “They’re used to a high lifestyle. That’s why Kate’s threat has Meghan all shook up!”
