Winter Golf in Yuma, AZ

Golf Today Northwest - - Golf Tips - By KATHY GILDERSLEEVE-JENSEN, PGA

January, February, or even March is a great time to get away from the wintery weather and head down south. So I did, in fact. We’re excited to introduce a second location for Golf Results Now Academy in Yuma, Arizona. I now have the privilege of being the new Director of Golf Instruction at Las Barrancas & Foothills Golf Complex in the beautiful foothills of Yuma. The Golf Complex is open to the public and has everything you could possibly need for the improvement of your game, skill level, and practice routines. The complex boasts all of the following: Las Barrancas GC is an 18 hole Championship golf course with five sets of tees of many different lengths. The course’s Black Tees (or the tips) are 6888 yards and the Gold Tees with the shortest range at 4356 yards. There’s something for every skill levels. Also notable are the practice facilities, which include a massive grass tee driving range, a gigantic 18 hole putting green, another very large putting green near the driving range, as well as a medium putting green next to the first tee. Additionally, the short game area has two different large greens with deep bunkers—ideal to help you practice all kinds of situational shots. Foothills Executive Golf Course is an executive classic nine-hole golf course that includes several par 4’s and a par 5—for a grand total par 34. All the golf courses are in fabulous shape and understandably extremely busy. The facility includes a large putting green near the first tee. The club house and patio are fantastic for all kinds of gatherings—from groups of players to weddings and other party events. Foothills Par 3 Golf Course is perfect for refining all skills and for improving your shot-making score shots. It’s also great for the beginner or for a nice game with your buddies. The facility includes a large grass driving range and a large putting green near the first tee. If you think all of this sounds good, the prices are even better. The cost for the 18 hole green fee, cart, and practice facility usage is $44/person. It’s only $12 a day for access to the practice facility only. And this includes all the golf balls you want to hit. I also encourage you to consider their reasonable combo prices during their peak season. There is as much variety in our golf programs for game improvement as there is in the courses themselves. With a wide range of packages to fit

every budget, our motto is to help you with your golf game, NOT re-vamp it. Programs offered include: lessons and classes for the beginner, continuing education, private individual lessons, golf in schools, juniors, and pre-happy hour group events. Let’s not forget our FREE Saturday Demo Days, designed to give guests an opportunity to test and demo golf equipment, training aids—and to offer a forum to answer golf questions. To find out more about dates and times, check out my website and social media outlets at Golf Results Now. One aspect of Golf Results Now Academy’s main mission is to give back to our vets with our comprehensive adaptive golf program, in which we adapt golf for individuals with physical limitations or cognitive issues. Inspired by Yuma’s thriving military community and sizeable veteran population, our goal is to introduce and make golf accessible to our veterans. What a joy to share this fantastic sport and grow a diverse community of players and enthusiasts—regardless of their ability! Yuma’s warm weather and stunning panoramic views of the Gila Mountains make it an ideal destination for any vacationer. It also offers a wide array of activities in additional to its great golf terrain. Off-road motor sports, shopping, great food, casinos, old town Yuma, flea markets, and stunning nearby lakes and resorts should all top the list of “to dos” during your visit. San Diego, Phoenix, and Tucson are also all within 190 miles. We look forward to seeing you soon for some fun in the sun!
