Teen charged in e-cig cartridges theft
GREENWICH — Officers apprehended a suspect who allegedly stole hundreds of dollars worth of e-cigarette cartridges from a local gas station this summer, police said.
Randy Brown, 18, of Oak Ridge Street, Greenwich was charged Wednesday with fifth-degree larceny. Police said he stole 24 “Juul pods” from the Shell station on West Putnam Avenue near Josephine Evaristo Avenue on Aug. 29.
Authorities determined he was a suspect and issued a warrant.
On Wednesday night, according to the arrest report, an officer finishing up a traffic stop spotted Brown and apprehended him.
The officer knew Brown from “previous interactions” and was aware of the active warrant, according to the arrest report.
Brown was also cited with possession of marijuana after officers found a bag of cannabis in his possession, police said.
He was charged with fifth-degree larceny, in a theft of $250 to $500 in value.
Bail was set at $10,000.
