Teen charged in e-cig car­tridges theft

GREEN­WICH — Of­fi­cers ap­pre­hended a sus­pect who al­legedly stole hun­dreds of dol­lars worth of e-cig­a­rette car­tridges from a lo­cal gas sta­tion this sum­mer, po­lice said.

Randy Brown, 18, of Oak Ridge Street, Green­wich was charged Wed­nes­day with fifth-de­gree lar­ceny. Po­lice said he stole 24 “Juul pods” from the Shell sta­tion on West Put­nam Av­enue near Josephine Evaristo Av­enue on Aug. 29.

Au­thor­i­ties de­ter­mined he was a sus­pect and is­sued a war­rant.

On Wed­nes­day night, ac­cord­ing to the ar­rest re­port, an of­fi­cer fin­ish­ing up a traf­fic stop spot­ted Brown and ap­pre­hended him.

The of­fi­cer knew Brown from “pre­vi­ous in­ter­ac­tions” and was aware of the ac­tive war­rant, ac­cord­ing to the ar­rest re­port.

Brown was also cited with pos­ses­sion of mar­i­juana af­ter of­fi­cers found a bag of cannabis in his pos­ses­sion, po­lice said.

He was charged with fifth-de­gree lar­ceny, in a theft of $250 to $500 in value.

Bail was set at $10,000.
