Empty Bowl Project
Sunset Canyon Pottery will host its tenth annual Empty Bowl Project benefiting Dripping Springs Helping Hands, he local Food Bank, Sunday, Oct. 7.
A Silent Auction will also be held to raise money for the Dripping Springs Helping Hands. Items have been donated by local area businesses as well as one-of-a-kind art pieces from Austin and Dripping Springs artists.
Some of Sunset Canyon Pottery’s customers contribute soup as well. For a $15 donation, you can pick any of the donated bowls, and fill it with any of the gourmet soups. Local musicians make the occasion a festive one.
“It started out small, but it has turned out to be a big event,” said Bridget Hauser of Sunset Canyon Pottery. Fundraisers of this type are actually somewhat traditional among potters, she said. “Potters have been doing this for about 15 or 20 years. Usually these are held around Thanksgiving. We do ours in October because that’s International Hunger Awareness Month.”
Every year, the Empty Bowl Project grows. Sunset Canyon Pottery is located on U.S. 290, about three miles east of Dripping Springs on the right.
