Sun­set Canyon Pot­tery will host its tenth an­nual Empty Bowl Project ben­e­fit­ing Drip­ping Springs Help­ing Hands, he lo­cal Food Bank, Sun­day, Oct. 7.

A Silent Auc­tion will also be held to raise money for the Drip­ping Springs Help­ing Hands. Items have been do­nated by lo­cal area busi­nesses as well as one-of-a-kind art pieces from Austin and Drip­ping Springs artists.

Some of Sun­set Canyon Pot­tery’s cus­tomers con­trib­ute soup as well. For a $15 do­na­tion, you can pick any of the do­nated bowls, and fill it with any of the gourmet soups. Lo­cal mu­si­cians make the oc­ca­sion a fes­tive one.

“It started out small, but it has turned out to be a big event,” said Brid­get Hauser of Sun­set Canyon Pot­tery. Fundrais­ers of this type are ac­tu­ally some­what tra­di­tional among pot­ters, she said. “Pot­ters have been do­ing this for about 15 or 20 years. Usu­ally th­ese are held around Thanks­giv­ing. We do ours in Oc­to­ber be­cause that’s In­ter­na­tional Hunger Aware­ness Month.”

Ev­ery year, the Empty Bowl Project grows. Sun­set Canyon Pot­tery is lo­cated on U.S. 290, about three miles east of Drip­ping Springs on the right.
