Lee County Domestic Animal Services offers a $30 special on all adoptable dogs and cats from Sept. 1-31. The fee includes spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations, license (for dogs 3 months or older), heartworm test (for dogs 6 months or older), flea treatment, worming, microchip IDs, a 10-day health guarantee and more.

Those interested must first submit an adoption application for approval prior to visiting the animal. Once approved, a volunteer or staff member will assist interested parties during adoption hours, Monday-Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. “Our volunteers work with a certified trainer to teach our pets good manners and leash walking while in our care," says Karen Fordiani, public information specialist for Lee County Domestic Animal Services. "Each pet is temperament-tested prior to moving to our adoption floor, as well as tested in play groups. This gives us a better idea of their level of play, as well as compatibility with other animals."
