Based on an ancient tool found in the Great Red Desert near Farson, Wyoming, the Farson Blade Survival Tool is an extremely versatile blade that takes on all the tasks performed by a knife and hatchet.

We’ve used it to chop, slice, skin, whittle and even shave (which, considering the editor of this magazine, is quite a feat for a nonpowered tool). Fashion a handle out of a stick, lash on the Farson blade with the 550 cord, and it’s a tough little hatchet. And it’s so light, we didn’t even notice it when it was carried in a pack. It comes razor-sharp out of the box.
