PROFILING THE ACTIVE SHOOTER
Almost all the shooters had a “real or perceived, deeply held personal grievance,” according to Andre Simons, unit chief for the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit 2.
Behavior is unusually aggressive, odd or scary.
Makes threats of violence or retribution (serious or joking). Distraught or shows signs of suicide.
Overheard making comments of planned/intended violence. Gang/cult affiliation.
Fights or performs acts of violence at school/work or other location.
Postings on social media suggest tendencies toward violence. Owns or has access to weapons (guns, knives, suspicious objects).
