There have been many great gun de­signs over the years, but here are 10 that for­ever changed the face of the gun in­dus­try since the start of the 20th cen­tury.

Ev­ery firearm man­u­fac­turer hopes their new­est prod­uct will be­come pop­u­lar with shoot­ers and hunters. Over the course of the last cen­tury, many guns have done just that.

But a few firearms go fur­ther, chang­ing the face of the shoot­ing in­dus­try by revolutionizing gun man­u­fac­tur­ing. This is about more than just sales fig­ures, though; it’s about the in­tro­duc­tion of an in­ge­nious con­cept that’s sim­ply too good for any­one—even com­pet­ing gun mak­ers—to ig­nore.

Gas­ton Glock came up with the idea for a poly­mer-framed pis­tol, and shoot­ers in the 1980s were taken aback. To­day, there are dozens of man­u­fac­tur­ers that of­fer poly­mer guns.
