East Hartford Hangs On, Defeats Simsbury

Gunn Versatile In New Britain Victory

East Hartford held off Simsbury for a 28-27 victory at home in a CCC interdivis­ion game. Mark Bedson scored on a 3-yard run in the fourth but the failed conversion allowed East Hartford (3-0) to hold on for the win. Raquan Tompkins had a touchdown run and passing TDs to Jayden Gardner and Quinton Haughton in the second half. Simsbury scored two TDs on runs by Bedson and Jackson Butler to pull within a score. Tompkins finished 12-for-18 for 168 yards, Haughton had 12 carries for 128 yards and Jon McNeil had 10 tackles.

New Britain 44, South Windsor 0: Kaiyon Gunn scored rushing, receiving and intercepti­on return touchdowns to help New Britain top South Windsor on the road in a CCC interdivis­ion game. Gunn ran for a 31-yard touchdown, returned a pick 59 yards for a score and caught a 13-yard TD from Tahje Yopp, all in the first quarter. Yopp had 10 carries for 102 yards and a TD. New Britain (3-0) held South Windsor (0-3) to just five yards on offense.

Glastonbur­y 14, Hall 13: After trailing at half, Glastonbur­y held Hall to only 8 yards in the second half to win its CCC interdivis­ion home game. Drew Daniels threw a 20-yard touchdown to Andreis Ramirez before the half and gave the Tomawhawks the lead with a 1-yard run in the fourth. Matthew Tenney rushed for 113 yards on 19 carries for Glastonbur­y (2-1). Nolan Tibbell had 10 carries for 75 yards and a TD for Hall (1-2).

Bloomfield 27, Tolland 6: Daron Bryden rushed for four touchdowns and 240 yards and Bloomfield defeated Tolland in a CCC interdivis­ion game at home. Ky’juon Butler added 170 rushing yards and an intercepti­on. Jayvon Massey caught six passes for 107 yards and two touchdowns for Bloomfield (3-0). Ryan Carlson scored a 10-yard rushing touchdown for Tolland (1-2).

Windsor 41, Farmington 0: Daniel Elliott had three touchdowns as Windsor shut out Farmington at home in a CCC Div. II East game. Elliot had 14 carries for 180 yards and two TDs. He caught one of two touchdown passes from Courtenay Jackson. Gabriel Bryan had a 50-yard intercepti­on return TD and Dohnje Cassanova had four tackles and two sacks for Windsor (2-1). Farmington falls to 1-2.

Wethersfie­ld 24, Bristol Central 0: Connor Pace rushed for two touchdowns and Wethersfie­ld shut out Bristol Central in a CCC Div. II West game from Cottone Field at Wethersfie­ld High. David Colon returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown and also blocked a punt to set up Pace’s first TD. Jacob Rivera and John Orsini combined for four sacks for Wethersfie­ld (2-1). Justus Fitzpatric­k had 57 yards on 11 carries for Central (1-2).

Granby 26, Old Saybrook/Westbrook 0: Jackson Rome had two touchdowns and Granby defeated Old Saybrook/Westbrook at home in a Pequot interdivis­ion game. Rome rushed15 times for 98 yards and a TD and connected with Dylan Disabella on another. Garret Strain ran for a TD and 97 yards and Ben Kibby had seven tackles for Granby (2-1). Old Saybrook/Westbrook falls to 0-2.

Stafford/East Windsor/Somers 35, Gilbert/Northweste­rn 13: Tyler Ouellette accounted for three touchdowns as the Stafford co-op beat Gilbert/Northweste­rn in a Pequot Uncas game at Stafford High. Julien Rivas had 58 yards and a TD on the ground and Cody Gebo had three tackles-for-loss and two sacks for Stafford (3-0), which blocked three punts.

Cheney Tech 50, Platt Tech 8: In his first varsity start, sophomore Ben Gendreau helped lead Cheney Tech over Platt Tech in a CTC game at home. Gendreau finished 3-for-6 with 62 yards and two touchdowns. Alquan Brown had a TDcatch and returned a kickoff 70 yards for another score. Jaedan jones ran for 160 yards and two TDs for Cheney (2-1).

Vinal Tech/Goodwin Tech/Whitney Tech 46, MCW United 13: Nehemiah Brown and Latrell Lindsey combined for over 300 rushing yards and four touchdowns as the Vinal Tech co-op defeated MCW United in a CTC game in Middletown. Brown rushed for 185 yards and two TDs and Lindsey had 147 yards and two scores. Julian Cruz had a 42-yard intercepti­on return TD for Vinal Tech (1-1).

SMSA/University/Classical 23, Ellington 7: Naseim Harrison tallied three touchdowns and the SMSA co-op defeated Ellington in a Pequot Uncas game at home. Harrison had five catches for 87 yards and two touchdowns. He added 11 tackles, two intercepti­ons (including one returned 71 yards for a score), a forced fumble and a pass deflection on defense. Jordan Rivera had nine tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery for SMSA (2-1), which held Ellington (0-3) to 125 total yards.

Maloney 60, Bristol Eastern 20: Elliott Good passed for four touchdowns as Maloney beat Bristol Eastern on the road in a CCC Div. II West game. Good was 13-for-20 for 218 yards and the four TDs. Maloney (3-0) added 332 yards on the ground, led by Freddie Hidalgo’s 150 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries. Kamron Moreno caught two passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns. Bristol Eastern (0-3) quarterbac­k Justin Marshall was 10-for-23 for 101 yards, a touchdown and an intercepti­on and Matt D’Amato finished with 77 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.
