Man charged with busi­ness bur­glary

Po­lice charged a 29-year-old Pa­hoa man in con­nec­tion with a Thurs­day bur­glary of a va­cant busi­ness build­ing in Hilo.

At 11:50 p.m. Thurs­day, of­fi­cers spot­ted a man in a pickup parked be­tween a ship­ping con­tainer and the fence line of a busi­ness on Silva Street. Po­lice also dis­cov­ered the fence was cut and the door to the busi­ness was kicked in.

Sev­eral items taken from the va­cant busi­ness were al­legedly in the bed of the pickup.

Po­lice ar­rested Ni­cholas Black­well and he was charged Satur­day with sec­ond-de­gree bur­glary. His bail was set at $2,000 and his ini­tial court ap­pear­ance was Mon­day.
