Blend in, or stand out, HD takes a look at the some of the most advanced armored cars and trucks in the market.

Your home is your safe haven. It’s what you work so hard for. It also happens to be one of the largest long-term investments you’ll ever make. But truth be told, home ownership is a financial marriage courted by a 15- or 30-year mortgage, and many of us will work just as hard to pay it off as we will to protect it.

For most of us, a large part of paying off the house means leaving it to go to work, and that’s where this article comes into play. In Home Defender, we typically showcase and chronicle the latest and greatest weapons and technology for your home – but this time around we’re showcasing some of the finest armored vehicles we’ve laid eyes on.

While this feature will mesmerize most, some purists may wonder what in the hell this has to do with home defense. It’s simple: A “home defense” plan is merely a segment of a complete “personal protection” plan – and armored cars are an extension of that. Of course, the vehicles we’re featuring are reserved for those with deep pockets, but the protection, mental security and peace of mind they offer are priceless. We were granted access to some of the most incredible armored cars and trucks we’ve laid eyes on. Some of them can blend in on the freeway, while others are downright behemoths that would be perfect for an A-list Hollywood production.

The company responsible for creating these vehicles is INKAS Armored Vehicle Manufacturing.

Based out of Toronto, INKAS Armored Vehicle Manufacturing was established in 1993. Since then, they have been supplying banks, law enforcement agencies and VIPs with the best in armored vehicles. From Dodge Sprinters, Ford Econoline 350s to Freightliners, Fords, Lexus sedans and Toyotas, these vehicles are all crafted out of their 60,000 square foot manufacturing facility.

INKAS Armored manufactures a wide range of armored vehicles and bulletproof cars, including armored SUVs,

luxury cars and limousines, tactical vehicles, cash-in-transit vehicles, armored buses and trucks. INKAS also produces armored special purpose military vehicles for its commercial and institutional clients on a global scale.

All of their vehicles undergo ballistic testing at its in-house shooting range, and some of their wildest creations include The Sentry, an armored personnel carrier that is available for the armed forces or any other law enforcement agency. So while some of these vehicles are not available for public use, the article does give us a chance to dream, while also giving those with deep pockets the ability to buy more civilized versions.

From VIPs to multinational dignitaries, these armored vehicles are the ultimate form of transportation and they offer readers a glimpse into the possibilities of vehicular safety – so long as they have the budget for it. The INKAS Armored Cadillac Escalade come equipped with the Chairman interior package. Its most noticeable feature is the addition of a 4-inch raised roof, a custom-fabricated interior as well as 360-degree ballistic armoring.

Occupants can feel at ease in the captain style heated and cooled leather seats with massage systems, a customized bar, innovative light system as well as advanced multimedia and audio systems. Furthermore, the partition between the driver and the passenger compartment contains a built-in LED screen allowing for maximal form and function.

The vehicle incorporates perimeter armoring of the passenger compartment in order to provide protection against 7.62mm, 308 Winchester FMJ ammunition, in accordance with NIJ Standard 0108.01 Level 3 and/or CEN 1063 Level BR6. In order to ensure that the vehicle’s factory characteristics are left mostly intact after armoring, INKAS has upgraded the suspension and braking components to ensure maximal ride quality and control. Huron’s perimeter armoring of the 16-passenger compartment and engine bay is designed to provide protection against 7.62×51 SC ammunition, 7.62×51 M80 NATO Ball ammunition and tested to meet NIJ-STD-0108.01 Level III / CEN Level B6 ballistic standards.

The Huron APCs well-proven offroad capabilities are much in part due to a 8.3L Paccar Engine and a 10-speed automatic or manual transmission. The OEM body of the vehicle was replaced with a fully re-designed body by INKAS Armored Vehicle Manufacturing.
