UPDATING THE LEVER CARTRIDGE LOOK
A huge reason bolt actions became more popular with hunters than lever guns is that bolt actions could use pointed bullets that shot flatter, farther and did a better job carrying retained energy.
Now Hornady has updated the traditional flat-nosed bullet profile by adding a polymer tip in their LEVERevolution line of ammo that allows these bullets to be safely loaded in tube magazine rifles. With a pointed bullet, Hornady has achieved higher BCs (ballistic coefficient) for improved accuracy, more downrange energy and a flatter trajectory.
And although those factors may not be a concern for home defense, they are important if you are thinking about asking your hunting rifle to double as your home defense weapon.
Hornady’s LEVERevolution ammo is available in a wide variety of calibers and bullet grain weights.
