Wa­ter main break geyser soaks build­ing

The Honolulu Board of Wa­ter Sup­ply was ex­pected to work late into Fri­day evening re­pair­ing a wa­ter main in Waipahu that res­i­dents’ videos showed spew­ing wa­ter on an apart­ment build­ing.

The Board of Wa­ter Sup­ply said crews were re­pair­ing the 8-inch main at 94-113 Pupupuhi St. that rup­tured at 11 a.m. Fri­day.

Wa­ter ser­vice to 24 cus­tomers was ex­pected to be re­stored Fri­day night.

BWS said it took at least an hour for crews to get to the scene and slowly turn the wa­ter off to pre­vent other breaks or other prob­lems.
