Bishop Larry Silva of the Ro­man Catholic Dio­cese of Honolulu is invit­ing all Protes­tant and Ortho­dox church lead­ers for an evening of Taize prayer at 7 p.m. Thurs­day at the New­man Cen­ter/Holy Spirit Par­ish, 1941 East-West Road. The ser­vice will be held dur­ing the 2017 Week of Prayer for Chris­tian Unity and will rec­og­nize the 500th an­niver­sary of the Protes­tant Ref­or­ma­tion.

The ser­vice will in­clude chants, prayers for Chris­tian unity, pe­ti­tions, Scrip­ture read­ings, a pe­riod of si­lence and rev­er­ence around the cross, fol­low­ing a style of wor­ship prac­ticed in Taize, France.
