Maui’s Fer­nan­dez taken off on stretcher

Washington State fresh­man guard Cameron Fer­nan­dez, left, held her head af­ter in­jur­ing her­self while tak­ing a charge from Ari­zona State cen­ter Quinn Dorn­stauder, right, dur­ing a Pac-12 game at Wells Fargo Arena in Tuc­son, Ariz. Fer­nan­dez, a La­hainaluna alumna, was car­ried off on a stretcher and ad­mit­ted to a hospi­tal as a pre­cau­tion, but she was ex­pected to make a full re­cov­ery. Fer­nan­dez’s Cougars lost the game to the 19th-ranked Sun Devils 68-49. Chanelle Molina, a fresh­man who grad­u­ated from Kon­awaena, led WSU with 13 points.
