Burgers and Things a champ
A Swedish television show has taken notice of chef Ernesto Limcaco at Burgers and Things, declaring his burgers the best in the islands.
The show “Varldens Basta Burgare” — “World’s Best Burger” — hosted by Stockholm-based celebrity chef Johan Jureskog, has been touring the United States, with Jureskog eating his way through local restaurants in search of the best.
He visited five to seven Hawaii restaurants (the show holds the exact numbers and names secret), declaring Burgers and Things to be the best, Limcaco’s business partner, Elizabeth Hata-Watanabe, said. The chef was then invited to cook against Jureskog in a show taped in November in a private home along the Hawaii Kai marina. A panel of chefs preferred Limcaco’s Doe a Deer Burger, made with Maui venison. Hata-Watanabe said the results had to be kept secret until now; the show will air in Sweden in the next few weeks. Jureskog himself is a veteran of cooking competitions in Sweden and Europe. He represented his country in the 2015 World Burger Championships held in Florida.
