86, died peace­fully in his sleep on Tues­day, May 9, 2017 in Honolulu. He leaves his best friend Jacki Gillen, sis­ter-in-law Kather­ine Da­mon and neph­ews Allen, Hugh, Thomas and An­drew Da­mon.

Born in Honolulu on June 8, 1930, Gor­don was a fourth-gen­er­a­tion mis­sion­ary de­scen­dant of Sa­muel C. Da­mon and Ju­lia M. Da­mon who ar­rived in Hawaii in 1842. Gor­don was a grad­u­ate of Pu­na­hou School and Wil­liams Col­lege. He served in the Air Force and was sta­tioned in Morocco. Gor­don had a long ca­reer span­ning sev­eral decades as a real es­tate devel­oper in Honolulu. Some of his projects in­cluded The Tropic Isle Ho­tel in Waikiki, Haiku Plan­ta­tion and Kaloko Mauka on the Big Is­land.

Gor­don’s great­est pas­sion was the ocean and he was an avid scuba diver. He dived all over the Hawai­ian Is­lands and in many ex­otic lo­ca­tions around the world. His fa­vorite dive spots were Fiji and Mi­crone­sia.

Gor­don served on the board of The Waikiki Aquar­ium and The Oceanic In­sti­tute. A grave side ser­vice will be held at Oahu Ceme­tery on May 25th at 10:00am. A re­cep­tion cel­e­brat­ing Gor­don’s life will be held af­ter the ser­vice at the Oahu Ceme­tery Lanai. In lieu of flow­ers Gor­don would like do­na­tions to be made to Hawai­ian Hu­mane So­ci­ety.
