Injured hiker rescued off Lanikai trail
Fire rescue crews on Saturday aided an injured hiker on the Lanikai Pillbox Trail.
The call came in just after 1 p.m.
The Honolulu Fire Department responded with 16 firefighters from five units, including the Air 1 helicopter.
A man in his 20s had injured his ankle while coming down the trail, which can be steep. Crews hiked up the trail and found the man at 1:25 p.m., the department said by email. Air 1 inserted two crewmen, who loaded the man in a Stokes litter. He was then airlifted to the landing zone at Lanikai Community Park and transferred to Emergency Medical Services personnel by 1:48 p.m.
