In­jured hiker res­cued off Lanikai trail

Fire res­cue crews on Satur­day aided an in­jured hiker on the Lanikai Pill­box Trail.

The call came in just af­ter 1 p.m.

The Honolulu Fire Depart­ment re­sponded with 16 fire­fight­ers from five units, in­clud­ing the Air 1 he­li­copter.

A man in his 20s had in­jured his an­kle while com­ing down the trail, which can be steep. Crews hiked up the trail and found the man at 1:25 p.m., the depart­ment said by email. Air 1 in­serted two crew­men, who loaded the man in a Stokes lit­ter. He was then air­lifted to the land­ing zone at Lanikai Com­mu­nity Park and trans­ferred to Emer­gency Med­i­cal Ser­vices per­son­nel by 1:48 p.m.
