Recall effort leader gets rape threat
3 SAN FRANCISCO >> A Stanford University law professor who is leading an effort to recall a judge over his handling of a high-profile sexual assault case received an envelope Wednesday containing white powder and a rape threat.
Emergency personnel shut two rooms at the law school while they tested the substance and determined it was a harmless “inert powder.”
The professor targeted in the threat, Michele Dauber, said the envelope was disguised as a party invitation. Dauber is leading an effort to recall Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Aaron Persky.
Persky was criticized in 2016 after he sentenced former swimmer Brock Turner to six months in jail for raping an unconscious woman on campus near a fraternity house.
