STAGE SHOW t
From noon until 3 p.m. every day of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, Western-industry notables will keep you entertained at Cowboy Christmas’ Rodeo Live Stage presented by RODEOHOUSTON. Flint Rasmussen— whose highly acclaimed show “Outside the Barrel” has run on the Cowboy Christmas stage for over decade now—is appointment viewing.
Next up is country music star Daryle Singletary’s “Keepin’ It Country.” Singletary is known for his commitment to core country music with hits like “I Let Her Lie,” “Amen Kind of Love,” and “Too Much Fun.” One country music star after another will grace his stage, and together they will pick old tunes, tell stories and showcase new songs. The goal, he says, is to have a front-porch kind of atmosphere as if there wasn’t even an audience present.
“I don’t know how much I want to be seen as a talk-show host,” he says. “I’d rather be seen as just a person who’s hanging around talking with his friends.”
Following Singletary is a new addition to the lineup: Rodeo Recess with Andy Seiler. Seiler is a former National High School Rodeo team roping champion and three-time College National Finals Rodeo qualifier who has turned his passion for the sport into an announcing career. In fact, he’ll be using his platform in Las Vegas to promote the youth of the sport.
“The premise of it is focused on youth,” Seiler says. “This is going to be an opportunity to put some personality behind the kids who are competing at the Junior NFR presented by YETI. It’s new for the sport of rodeo in my opinion. I also want to bring in the leaders from these youth associations so that we give everybody that’s there a feel of what’s going on in youth rodeo sports and where the movement is headed to and what’s on the horizon.”
