For the past few months I have been riding and testing a plethora of new bikes from various manufacturers—yes, even non-american brands, as I am also the online editor for our sister publication Street Chopper, which will feature a sprinkling of Japanese and Euro brands. All have been diverse but really superb motorcycles. New models from Harley-davidson and Indian Motorcycle are appearing at a faster rate than in the past handful of years. These new models have been designed with something that seemed to be lacking in previous years.

What was that? The common missing theme in my opinion was a motorcycle built for what the consumer actually wanted and needed. Now the manufacturers have listened to and observed the consumer and implemented that into new models. Instead of trying to sell you on an answer to a question that was never asked, they are now constructing bikes with much more purpose. That purpose? Motorcycles that you want to ride.

After riding a handful of the latest and greatest machines from several manufacturers, I was left with one common theme across the board. All the latest models are just plain-great-functioning motorcycles with amazing quality compared to bikes of even just a decade ago. Whatever type of riding you are into, you really can’t go wrong with any of these new models from the motorcycle companies. There really are no duds or just weird bikes anymore. The manufacturers have put a lot of fun back into motorcycles with bikes that just ride fantastically.

Harley-davidson plans 50 new models in the next five years, and I personally know that Indian Motorcycle has very aggressive future model plans.

Both manufacturers are set to shake up the industry a bit with all this new machinery. Some of these bikes will be a little bit of a departure from the norm for both brands, and some will be more traditional. I can’t wait to see what rolls off the production line next for the two!

It’s an exceptional and exciting time to be a motorcycle consumer. There really is no time like the present! HB
