July 1958 (92 pages, 35¢): Don Johnson’s cover car was the first dragster welded together by Kent Fuller, who’s never stopped, by the way. In his 80s, the famed chassis-builder completed “cackle” clones of Tommy Ivo’s first rail and Bob Keith’s Courtesy Chevrolet Special, along with a state-of-the-art, flat-motored Bonneville streamliner for himself and his son. Also featured in this issue’s green-tinted center section is Duffy Livingstone’s road-racing Eliminator roadster, the crude, crowd-pleasing, Corvette-powered 1925 T that outran Ferraris and other European exotics in SCCA and California Sports Car Club meets.
