WIDTH

Hot Rod - - The Easy Way & The Hard Way -

While calipers are ideal, you can eyeball a tape measure or ruler between the inside width of the beads to measure wheel width (3.5 inches here). This will ultimately dictate the tire size; on smaller-diameter wheels, it will also reveal the width limitations against the tie rod, control arm, or shock mount because those items are packaged in competing space.

[ Measuring between the beads (and not across the lips of the wheel), we get 3.5 inches.
